Hello!
I came across a small challenge of restoring a course without overwriting the user IDs associated with the course.
I had created a backup of a course which I restored on a Test Moodle Site. I then proceeded to modify the course. Once the modifications were complete, I needed to restore the newly modified test course onto the live server without overwriting the existing User IDs.
Initially I was unable to do so because I was performing a backup that did not include the user data.
The key to doing this was to perform a complete backup of the test site first. During the process of restoring the site on live, click on the None link under the user data to not restore the user data.
This should restore the course without overwriting the existing user IDs.
