Job offered: Learning and Development Technical Support Officer

Type: Full-time
Location: Shoreham-by-Sea

Hours: Full/part time - to be discussed at interview

Salary: Negotiable dependent on experience

Location: Our office in Shoreham-by-Sea

About us

Over the last 15 years, we’ve built an excellent reputation for delivering high quality and comprehensive training in medicines administration to various social and health care settings across the UK.

You’ll be working in our office in Shoreham-by-Sea, it’s a relaxed and informal atmosphere as we believe a happy team is a productive team.

Working for a small company has many advantages:

·         a more varied and satisfying role

·         a chance to learn more varied skills

·         greater involvement in decisions and the direction the company takes

·         greater collaboration and teamwork

·         greater innovation and creativity

·         seeing the work you do make a real difference to the company and to those we train.

About this opportunity

We are looking for someone with some or most of the following skills and experience listed below. As the role is varied, we accept it’s unlikely we’ll find someone with all these skills and experience, so we’re happy to support you and provide training if you have less experience, but an aptitude for technology and a willingness to learn. We are also considering recent graduates or college leavers.

Creation of learning content

We have training workshops that we run face-to-face and through distance learning (workbooks) that we are making into online courses. We use software called Moodle, a learning management system (LMS), to do this. It’s a system used by many schools and universities.

You’d help take content across into Moodle, setting up the pages, creating the questions and activities from pre-existing learning content. We currently use a Moodle freelancer to help us do this, so they’d be available to support you with this role as needed.

Ideally, you’d have the following skills:

·         Knowledge of Moodle, creation of e-learning or a willingness to learn

·         Some basic HMTL coding knowledge or a willingness to learn

Dealing with technical queries

With our online LMS (Moodle), we have queries from customers that need resolving (examples might be people who can’t login or who has failed their course and needs their account re-setting).

Ideally, you’d have the following skills:

·         Knowledge of Moodle, Learning Management Systems or a willingness to learn

·         Perhaps some customer services skills or experience.

We also use applications such as Adobe’s InDesign to create and format text documents, workbooks, and marketing materials. We use a freelance graphics designer for this, but we also like to be able to ‘tweak’ materials ourselves. Hence, you’d already have, or be willing to learn, some InDesign skills.

Support with our website

You would support our Wordpress freelancer to develop our website, adding courses and products, and maybe even writing copy (content), if that is something you’d enjoy and had an aptitude for.

Ideally, you’d have the following skills:

·         Either you’d already have some experience with websites or be willing to learn

·         You might have an eye for design or enjoy writing copy

·         Experience with the backend of websites or a willingness to learn.

Support with marketing

We use Mailchimp as an email marketing platform and we use a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system. You’d provide more technical support for our sales and marketing activities by sending out marketing emails, and supporting us to follow up on any enquiries (responding via emails, creating standard emails responses) and making sure we are using our CRM software in an optimal way.

Other duties

Other duties may be assigned in agreement with the manager (as we are a small company, there are often varied tasks that are needed).
