MSc Assistant – Compliance and Online Support

Fixed term (8 months), full-time, based in Edinburgh

Salary £26,231 (Band C)

The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) is looking for an MSc Assistant – Compliance and Online Support to join our Horticulture and Learning division for a period of 8 months. 

The primary focus of this role is on converting the MSc programme to online delivery. You will liaise with our existing tutors and provide support on content creation and conversion. This will include conversion of PowerPoint presentations with voiceovers and captions, video recording living plants and dissections for insertion in presentations. You should be familiar with researching and be able to find suitable visual online resources as well as material already held by RBGE to include with teaching materials. Alongside the conversion to online delivery, all content should be created in a consistent format and comply with not only new accessibility regulations but also with copyright and licencing requirements.

 Key to this role will be your communication skills – you should be a confident communicator and have good verbal, listening, liaison and written communication skills. You should also have good time management and prioritisation skills with the ability to work towards and deliver to deadlines. You will be self-motivated with the ability to work unsupervised as well as part of the wider education team. Attention to detail/accuracy as well as previous knowledge or experience of proof-reading and user testing e-learning is also essential.

 We are looking for someone who has previous experience of developing and creating online learning content using a Virtual Learning Environment. You should have a good understanding of legal and regulatory requirements in respect of copyright, licencing and new accessibility regulations.
