Platform Developer (PHP)

Safetyhub is a market leader in delivering safety training video content. We are a digital platform that gives clients access to content and helps employers deliver customised training via a tailor-made Moodle-based learning management system.

We’re passionate about content. We’re passionate about keeping people safe. We’re looking for a similarly passionate individual who knows their way around PHP, doesn’t mind some front-end work for a sea-change and enjoys working in a small team that kicks goals!

About the Role

This role is for the developer who loves learning. Over time you will become the first stop for all technical elements of the current platform. That means you get to work with an extensive suite of AWS tools as well as a multi-tenancy Moodle implementation, WordPress and custom code. Your support skills will come in handy when called on to figure out client issues and your communication skills will help you work remotely.

The Safetyhub team is agile and open to constant improvement and you will be part of a team that is running a global platform. We know you will need to learn the platform and understand that with the right mix of PHP, JavaScript, MySQL and software development skills you can do it!

Skills requirement
  • Familiar with AWS infrastructure preferably EC2, S3, Cloud Front and Elastic Transcoder
  • Experience working with Linux platforms
  • Strong technical skills in PHP, Ajax, JavaScript, Bootstrap and CSS3
  • Strong experience working with MySQL databases
  • Excellent problem solving and bug busting skills
  • Understanding of the full Software Development Lifecycle
  • Demonstrable code management capability (Source Control and Continuous Delivery)
  • Understanding of API development and delivery
  • Remote working capabilities
  • Code testing and test automation looked on favourably (Behat, PHPUnit)
  • WordPress knowledge looked on favourably
  • Modern front-end framework knowledge looked on favourably
  • Moodle knowledge looked on favourably
Personal attributes
  •  Great attention to detail whilst writing high quality code
  • Ability to  problem solve and put forward a quality solution
  • Ability to prioritise work efforts and deliver value to the business
  • Agile learner who can understand requirements and quickly convert them to code
  • Get a kick out of building maintainable highly performant solutions

Terms

This is a part time position of three (3) days per week for an initial 6 month period. Our head office is based in Australia and ideally you will be able to work during or close to AU business hours though flexible working arrangements are a possibility as we are looking for the right person, not the right location!
