We are seeking to appoint an Instructional Designer/ Moodle Administrator on a twelve-month fixed term maternity cover contract.  This exciting and varied role is at the heart of all learning and development e-solutions within the Institute and carries two primary remits: 1) to be responsible for the on-going maintenance and administration of the Moodle virtual learning environment/ learning management system (VLE/ LMS) and 2) to design, and host, new learning materials for new programmes due to accept students from September 2020.

You’ll be confident working to promote and develop our VLE (Moodle) and other online platforms to enhance independent learning and wider engagement with the organisation. If you’re into technology, love using systems and IT in a wide range of contexts, then this could well be the next role for you.

Your priorities will include:

  • Module production - Supporting programmes and teaching staff (academics/clinicians) in the design and development of modules for face-to-face, online distance and blended delivery.
  • Virtual learning environment maintenance and support - Maintaining the current virtual learning environment by providing technical support to users (students and staff).
  • Learning design advisory - Advising academics in relation to enhancing learning and teaching experiences in courses/modules.

Who we’re looking for:

  • You will be confident in managing a variety of demands and changing priorities and be able to meet deadlines
  • Experienced in a similar role or a qualification in a related discipline
  • Experience of designing resources, activities and assessment for face-to-face, online distance and blended learners
  • Experience of developing modules and content in a virtual learning environment such as Moodle/Blackboard etc
  • Experience of website administration including some coding.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills will come naturally to you
  • You will enjoy working in a team but also be able to show that when required you can work independently
