The Education Specialist is a key member of the Princess Margaret Cancer Education program. The Princess Margaret Cancer Education program provides a large number of products and services to facilitate patient and family involvement in their care and to support the professional development of healthcare providers and trainees. Effective education resources are based on learning and, for patients and their caregivers-  health theories, they are responsive to health literacy and related barriers, are  in plain language and are produced in appropriate formats to support learning and retention. All learners in Cancer Education are increasingly accessing online resources to learn. The Princess Margaret Education program develops and provides education in multiple formats to best support learners. 
 
The Education Specialist will develop and design high quality multi-modal education resources, including eLearning modules developed in Articulate Storyline software and support configuration and administration of a Moodle-based Learning Management System under the direction of the Manager, eLearning and Curriculum. The successful candidate will conduct needs assessments and develop training programs using multiple vehicles including e-tools, printed materials, seminars, and information sessions.  The Education Specialistwill be a key consultant to stakeholders in design, configuration and maintenance of the Moodle LMS.  

Qualifications
• Completion of Bachelor of Education, Information Technology, or recognized equivalent. Masters of Education preferred.
• Instructional Design certification preferred.
• 2+ years’ experience with Moodle required.
• Experience with e-learning authoring tools, i.e. Storyline Articulate required.
• Experience managing special projects and program development
• Minimum two years’ experience in training and development, specifically teaching adult learners 
• Experience with patient education/ communication preferred
• Demonstrated expertise with web or computer-based learning development
• Must have well developed presentation and communication skills
• Experience in developing written communications
• Experience working in academic environment required
• Customer service/marketing experience an asset
• Maintains knowledge of patient education best practices
• Proficiency in Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) 
• Ability to facilitate and influence others
• Must be able to reduce stress in others and keep them focused and motivated. 
• Demonstrated ability to effectively deal with others in a consultative/collaborative manner 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
• Demonstrated excellence in customer relations and support service
