Moodle Technical Development Analyst, IT Services

As the 4th largest college of the University of London, Queen Mary is looking for a talented Moodle Technical Development Analyst who is seeking a new challenge in a diverse applications group.

A key part of the role will be the operation of our enterprise E-Learning systems - such as the Moodle virtual learning environment - working with Apache httpd, MySQL databases and IP network protocols in a Linux (Red Hat/CentOS) environment.

You will be responsible for installation, configuration and maintenance, as well as working closely with business users to plan, implement, test, document and provide 2nd/3rd line technical support for our world-class e-Learning systems.

Your experience should include a number of the following:-

· Installation and configuration of Moodle servers

· In depth knowledge of PHP Moodle development and performance testing.

· MySQL, SQL queries, and the Moodle data model.

· Linux command-line tools, including grep, diff, cron, ssh, scp, vi, MySQL, etc.

· bash shell scripting.

· Git for version control and deployment.

· Text file analysis using tools such as advanced text editors, Perl, diff, sed, grep, regular expressions.

· Ethernet networks, including problem-solving using GUI and command-line tools.

· Remote access/troubleshooting tools.

You will have excellent analysis, problem solving, and inter-personal/communications skills, both written and oral, with the ability to effectively communicate your knowledge to a varied audience.

Start date: ASAP

Initial contract: In the first instance 3 months.

Rate: Dependant on experience.
