MidKent College based in the Medway Towns and Maidstone is seeking to appoint an outstanding individual in the following area:

ICT Technical ILT Support Engineer Ref: P0653

Salary: £18,433 - £23,640 per annum

We are looking to recruit an organized and hard working individual to provide technical support to our ICT department. The successful candidate will have proven knowledge within this field and have an understanding of a learning environment. The ability to work with a range of software packages including PHP, HTML +CSS and Photoshop is essential.

JOB PURPOSE:

Provide Development and support on the College Virtual Learning Environment. Stay abreast of the learning environment and other software and operating system technologies. Work closely with teaching areas so as to understand the needs of learners

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

ESSENTIAL

· Must be highly organized, polished and be able to maintain a professional demeanour at all times.

· Experience of administration and programming/scripting Unix/Linux

· Must be comfortable working within a team, learning from all team members and actively sharing job related personal knowledge with others.

· 2 years previous experience in a similar capacity

· PHP (system config)

· PHP programming

· HTML + CSS

· Apache Tomcat (system config)

· MySQL (system config)

· SQL querying

· Git (system config)

· Photoshop/image creation or manipulation

· XML

· Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Access knowledge and VBA programming

· Delivering training (PTTLS)

· ProAchieve/ProGeneral/ProResource

· ASP

· Website and database integration systems

· Excellent, demonstrable, documentation and communication skills

· Good verbal and written English

· Good general health

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop in partnership with the teaching environment the current College VLE
  • Stay abreast of the learning environment and other software and operating system technologies.
  • Record the results and details of all customer interaction both inbound and outbound within Sunrise.
  • Take an active role in the technological development of all colleagues, staff, users and students.
  • Ensure the multi-site infrastructure is developed to support the delivery of learning and teaching
  • Troubleshoot, test and verify reported problems, and devise workarounds if possible
  • Respond to escalated customer issues within the parameters of the published SLA
  • Production and maintenance of documentation for the College Virtual Learning environment.
  • Undertake Integration Testing for new systems and changes to existing environment
  • Establishing and maintaining hardware and software standards
  • Provide technical assistance to identify, evaluate & develop products that meet user requirements
  • Administration of capacity planning and monitoring tools
  • Become when required a product champion of a particular area of technology or service. This will involve taking responsibility for implementing related staff development initiatives, product enhancements, documentation and any general maintenance.

Undertake any other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility and grade of the post, as directed by the Supervisor or the College Management.
