The UW-Madison Moodle Service (UWMM), is looking to add an outgoing, enthusiastic and talented full time software developer to our group. UWMM is run by Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE), the University of Wisconsin-Madison's academic computing group for the College of Engineering.
UWMM's mission is to run the UW's Moodle service. Moodle is an open source, PHP based Learning Management System (LMS) where instructors can build their class websites. This group is focused exclusively on innovating the practice of teaching and learning across campus by consulting, implementing, integrating and building customizations and extensions to Moodle. We seek to be a catalyst for the transformation of teaching through technology on the Madison campus and beyond.
The successful candidate will be comfortable innovating, being creative, and being part of a team. You will be asked to help faculty and university staff think through solutions to teaching & learning challenges. This may include implementing and extending existing plugins, building & iterating on prototypes for new approaches, or utilizing and configuring core Moodle functionality in new and different ways.
This role is a consultant, in every sense of the word. We focus on serving instructors' and their students' needs through the Moodle LMS as customized for the particular environment of UW-Madison. Examples include Moodle activity modules, authorization and enrollment plugins, blocks and local plugins. We are often involved with building plugins that interface with existing UW enterprise data services and working with campus partners to facilitate this type of data sharing.
