The open source learning management system administrator will support the university's open source Moodle Learning Management System (LMS) for a user base of approximately 1,800 faculty and 29,000 students, ensuring consistency between development, implementation, and planned usage and upgrades. All Information Technology Services employees are expected to demonstrate a commitment to exemplary customer service in all facets of their work. 


Subject matter specialist on LMS functionality and owner of the LMS process; administers and supports day-to-day processes for the LSU Moodle LMS, including customizations and configurations (changing settings, not coding); works closely with ITS support personnel, shares knowledge of and oversees documentations of knowledge base content for LMS features; acts as liaison between other LSU System campus LMS administrators. 


Specifies testing scenarios utilizing Behat or similar behavior-driven development tool; conducts quality assurance testing of LSU Moodle development improvements and new features based upon created scenarios; identifies and troubleshoots usability issues across various platforms, operating systems, and browsers through the use of standard browser-based page inspection tools; this includes all industry-standard mobile platforms; collaborates with ITS personnel, the LMS governance committee, and the LMS development team on design and development of LMS enhancements; builds technical requirements documents for all development projects based on industry best-practices. 


Works with the academic community to ensure an effective Moodle implementation; maintains a current working knowledge of industry developments related to the Moodle LMS and generic LMS usage; coordinates second-tier end user system troubleshooting, including LMS-related help desk work orders, bug tracking, and application issues; coordinates and communicates system-related events with ITS support and campus communications personnel. 


Perform miscellaneous tasks as directed by a project leader, manager, or director.
