Job offered: PHP/Moodle Developer

We are looking for an experienced PHP/Moodle Developer with 3 to 5 years’ experience with PHP/Moodle coding. This person will review our course catalogue, fix numerous functional problems and establish a best practice LMS environment. We need someone who enjoys investigating and resolving coding issues, has initiative, flexibility and an excellent knowledge of systems architecture. This person should be familiar with basic software algorithms and terminology and enjoy auditing and fixing bad code. Experience customizing the software and code against a list of client requirements. Experience with object-oriented design including common patterns, interfaces, and inheritance. Experience with coding for PHP/Moodle against 508 compliancy rules.  Ability to stay focused and detail-oriented in a fast-paced dynamic environment. This person will work independently and on a team and have strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience with Moodle development. Experience with Totara TMS a plus.
  •  Familiarity with object-oriented programming and have experience with Moodle's development framework (Moodle 2 with 3rd party plugins)
  • Experience with Moodle Module / Block Development, and Moodle webservices
  • A seasoned understanding of multimedia platforms and LMS course development, including Flash, and accessibility techniques such as 508 compliance and SCORM courses.
  • Experience using PHP debugging tools 
  • Able to handle a fast-paced work environment, deadlines and new challenge.
  • Able to deliver on time and on budget.
  • Solid PHP knowledge including Moodle template building and theme functions.
  • Web development experience including HTML, Javascript/JQuery, and CSS
  • Experience with data management in MySQL or other databases.
  • Prior experience working with Federal Government/DoD clients a plus.

EDUCATION:

BS degree in Computer Science or related field and  3 to 5 years’ experience developing PHP and Moodle-based systems. The candidate should be prepared to provide samples or links to past projects.
