Consultant to develop e-learning module on working with children and young people affected by sexual violence through participatory practices

Background
Terre des hommes, together with Bedfordshire University, Pulse Foundation (Bulgaria) and Stichting Alexander (Netherlands) have started a cooperative project entitled LEAP: Supporting children and young people affected by sexual violence in Europe by strengthening and facilitating participatory practice.
As part of the project, the British Bedfordshire University has developed a training package for professionals on the subject. The training package is aimed to be used in a 4-day training for practitioners. The aim of the training is to improve knowledge, skills and understanding of a child-rights, safe and ethical participatory practice and to develop confidence, and a commitment to participatory practice when supporting children and young people (CYP) who are affected by sexual violence (SV). An additional objective is to support practitioners to become ‘champions’ in advocating for participation.

The task
To Develop an e-learning course – based on the existing training package – to be published on the Child Protection Hub web-portal – using the moodle platform -and for the use of child protection professionals in Europe.
The course will be translated into Albanian, Bulgarian, Serbo-Croatian, Romanian and Dutch.
The course should heavily build on the existing training package and should keep its content and philosophy.
Various methodologies to make the course interactive would be highly expected. While partners have limited capacity to provide online assistance to learners and the course was originally envisioned as a ’self-directed course’, consideration needs to be made to include online mentoring elements into the course (e.g. forum discussions, one-on-one skype consultation, scheduled webinars or discussions).
The course should include short videos (to be created by the consultant), additional reading materials, case studies, possibly games. The consultant will be responsible for the technical implementation of short videos in a format allowing their use on a moodle platform as well as including the training material into ChildHub’s moodle platform.

The author of the training package can be made available for consultation for the development of the online course. Drafts will be peer reviewed by partners and selected experts identified by Bedfordshire University and Terre des hommes.

Schedule
The deadline for the completion of all versions of the e-learning course is April 2017, with development commensing in September 2016.
Interim deadlines (1st draft, English version online for testing, peer review, testing of English version, translations) will be finalized with the selected partner.

Application:
Please submit the following to the e-mail: info@childhub.org by September 15th:

  • CV of lead consultant presenting relevant experience with online learning as well as in the subject matter
  • Description of the consulting company/organization applying, including references to previous similar projects, track record in the subject matter (child sexual violence), technical capability in e-learning methodologies, and knowledge of the phenomenon in Europe would be an asset
  • Concept proposal for the course (main principles and methodologies, approaches to be used)
  • References of previous, similar work (including contacts that may be approached for direct reference)
  • Financial Proposal including a budget / cost-breakdown
  • Timeline for implementation and milestones
  • Guarantees, penalties for delays
  • Police clearance (no criminal record) of all people to be engaged

Shortlisted candidates will receive the full training package, based on which a more detailed offer can be made.
Excellent English language is a requirement from all staff involved in the creation of the e-learning course.

Terre des hommes is part of the Keeping Children Safe coalition and will require all contracted personnel to abide by its Child Safeguarding Policy and live up to and sign its Code of Conduct.
