About the Role

Talisium is looking for a Technical Lead with extensive Moodle experience to help us develop a world-class EdTech product to train healthcare professionals all over the world. Talisium’s EdTech product is designed to be a specialist healthcare platform, incorporating the largest array of training materials and courses in the industry, with users ranging from students, to healthcare organisations and content owners across the Middle East, Asia Pacific and beyond. 

The right candidate will help shape the future of Talisium, becoming a key contributor in our path to becoming the number one Healthcare EdTech company in the world.


We are looking for a candidate that can help us develop and implement our product plan across mobile and web. You will be expected to be familiar with the current technologies employed in the EdTech sector, and understand the state of the industry and potential future directions.

Reporting to the CEO, you will provide leadership and oversight of Talisium’s online learning strategy including learning and teaching quality, educational delivery and systems support, quality assurance, e-learning innovation, product development, academic program management, and operational end user support.

This is a newly created role and will form part of the leadership team. As the key product role within the business this person will lead the strategy to ensure the company is recognised by students and industry alike. Within industry and education partners, this company will be recognised as having international best practice courses and student experiences.


Some of your initial key deliverables:

  • Take leadership of the current platform project and develop the strategy for driving best practice into the delivery and growth of Talisium’s Moodle product;

  • Take ownership of engagement with academic and industry content partners around the world;

  • Develop and manage all internal systems, policies, processes, material and compliance related to your role;

  • Develop robust best practice online user and client engagement and support systems;

  • Develop and manage onboarding and technical integration of new clients for the eLearning platform;

  • Established as a respected and trusted member of the executive team, with healthy relationships with peers and internal/external stakeholders;

  • Work closely with the Head of Product, develop and launch the beta product across mobile and web, understand and iterate the development plan based on user feedback and usage, and launch the full product and platform in 2018.

  • Recruit and lead a team of external developers and engineers in order to build the product and platform on time, and on budget. You will be expected to keep this team moving towards their goal, and will work to resolve technical issues, watchful of technical decisions that have long-term consequences.

  • Have the overall responsibility for growing and maintaining Talisium’s technical infrastructure, including corporate IT, network and engineering.


Skills & Experience

Required:
  • 5+ years as a Technical Lead (or equivalent role), with product experience across both web and cross platform mobile applications

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field

  • Track record of designing, shipping and maintaining your software in an externally facing client product

  • Excellent ability to communicate your ideas, regardless of audience, and have strong collaboration skills

  • Proven ability to recruit and lead a development team, inspiring them to achieve goals through innovation, quality and efficiency

  • Have an informed opinion about the software, coding languages and tools Talisium should use, and lead technical teams on roadmap planning

  • Experience in project scheduling and resource management, with a proven ability for planning, budgeting and reporting. Prince 2 or similar project management skills required.

  • Ability to balance short-term wins with long-term strategic decisions

  • Solid design and coding skills in PHP, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, AngularJS, Laravel

  • Extensive experience developing stateless web applications, RESTful JSON APIs

  • Experience with a Moodle LMS. SCORM and AICC is critical

  • Understanding of source control practices with Git

  • Cloud operation and Cloud Architecture experience

  • Experience working in an Agile environment.

  • Good knowledge of databases and SQL, HTML5, CSS, PHP, JavaScript and Ajax.

  • Good knowledge of web application security, performance and scalability.

  • Ability to organise your own workload in order to meet deadlines.

  • Awesome relationship management skills.

  • Enthusiastic and approachable personality.

  • Availability to work in Perth, Western Australia (remote workers will also be considered).


Preferred:
  • Good sense of design principles and a strong visual aesthetic

  • Experience developing for bandwidth-constrained users

  • Prior experience working in an EdTech role

  • Previous startup experience

  • Internationalization experience

  • A passion for education and EdTech


Salary:

A$130,000 (inclusive of super).
