Dear Moodle Community,
The Transportation Learning Center (the Center), on behalf of the Joint National Rail Vehicle Technician Qualification Program (the Program or the National Program) funded by a grant from the Transit Cooperative Research Program (TCRP), is seeking a qualified firm to design and implement a Web-Based National Qualification System to support a national system of instruction, training and examination programs for transit rail mechanics.
The Program is seeking to create a comprehensive web-based database-driven record management system for training completion, qualification exams, award of qualification status, and re-qualification by transit rail vehicle technicians. Seamless integration with computer-based, Internet-based or paper-and-pencil testing systems that will be implemented during the next project phase will be required. Integration with a future e-learning system for online course delivery will also be part of the consideration.
The website of the National Program will be accessible by national program administrators, local training coordinators, local trainers and instructors and trainees with different permission levels and interfaces. The underlying database will enable national program administrators to produce customized reports on training and qualification statistics.
This system will also house information on the national training and qualification program for trainers and instructors in the transit rail industry. A forum will be available for trainers to exchange teaching techniques and share instruction materials online.
The National Program has a strong preference for open source products such as Moodle.
