CSA has an immediate need for a Learning Technologist reporting to the Manager, eLearning.

The Learning Technologist will administer the day-to-day operations supported by leaning systems and technology, deliver continuous improvement and efficiency by leveraging learning systems capabilities, and work with virtual faculty, staff, and learners, to ensure optimal user experiences with Learning Services systems and courses. The incumbent will have strong technical background in learning systems administration, online training delivery (including webinars & blended learning), excellent facilitation skills, and a learner-centric focus on usability, continuous improvement, and optimization.

Job Summary:

  • Oversees all aspects of day-to-day learning activities supported by learning technologies and systems, including the administration of user roles, system settings, course content publishing, webinar administration and delivery, learner record management, scheduling, reporting, and technical support. This includes the collection, analysis, and dissemination of user experience and feedback data.
  • Implements plans for systems integration and optimization for all learning modalities including online training, webinars, seminars, and personnel certification, ensuring consistent approach to student record management, report generation and distribution, student evaluation, identifying and leveraging new technological capabilities to improve operational efficiency, and learner experience. Works closely with other departments and Corporate IT to ensure system integration plans follow policies and procedures and leverage resources within the matrix organization.
  • Participates in content development, implementing content templates to ensure consistent learning experiences for all learners and the optimization of online content for usability, ensuring accessibility standards are met. Works with outside vendors as required and implements project deliverable according to approved budgets. Administers online publication of training materials and ensures testing and quality reviews are completed prior to course launch.
  • Provides learning system and technology training to faculty, vendors, and stakeholders as necessary for systems access, course development, formatting, and webinar delivery, and hosts live class meetings, ensuring smooth delivery and provision of real-time technical support to faculty and students.
  • Provides technical support to learners, faculty, and staff, tracking and reporting on issue resolution and recommendations for continuous improvement. Oversees all technical support options, and coordinates schedules to ensure technical support lines and options are resourced. Works with corporate IT to minimize system outages and identify suitable timing for routine system maintenance. Prepares and disseminates associated broad-based client communications.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Post Secondary Diploma or Degree in IT, adult education, systems administration, or related field
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and online training standards (eg. SCORM, AICC)
  • Experience with open source learning systems such as Moodle, as well as experience with mid to enterprise level learning systems
  • Minimum of 3-5 years in learning technology role supporting learning systems including LMS, LCMS, and Webinars
  • Demonstrated understanding of development fundamentals such as HTML, PHP, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, and WEB Services
  • Flash experience including programming in ActionScript 2/3
  • Experience with source control systems (SVN)
  • Proficiency in development applications including Adobe Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, and rapid eLearning development applications.
  • Database (ODBC, SQL, ADO) development and design.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Knowledge of online usability and accessibility programming requirements and standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent facilitation skills
