Part-Time Instructional Designer

Summary

CAMRIS International is searching for an experienced Part-Time Instructional Designer to join its international development team to design, develop and deliver high-quality training solutions. Candidates must demonstrate expertise in developing training courses according to recognized practices for Instructional Design, such as Instructional Systems Design (ISD) methodologies. The position requires knowledge and experience to develop, integrate, and enhance training materials to be delivered on a Moodle-based professional development and learning portal. Experience integrating learning technologies and related best practices are integral to the position. The Instructional Designer will be able to ramp up quickly, is self-motivated and able to work as part of an extended team. This position is located in Bethesda, Maryland but also has the ability to telecommute.

 

Primary Duties

  • Design and develop e-learning courses to ensure consistent delivery of standardized goals and learning objectives across the organization. Courses will be developed for a professional development and learning portal and will focus around the Moodle learning management platform, including product functionality and best practices.
  • Translate general principles of learning and instruction to develop highly engaging, relevant and interactive learning programs, curricula, certification paths and training materials at all levels of complexity.
  • Analyze learning needs, goals and objectives; identify audience; and determine the required training strategy and appropriate delivery system.
  • Blend learning approaches to develop and deliver engaging, high quality training programs.
  • Create design documents that clearly communicate learning strategies, content outline, flow diagrams, technical specifications and overall project scope.
  • Build templates, processes and coaching tools to enable SME's to build content quickly and effectively.
  • Conduct and report formative evaluations of new and existing courses.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Adult Learning Theory or related field.
  • Must have in-depth experience with Learning Management Systems. Moodle experience is highly desirable.
  • 3+ years of experience designing, developing and implementing interactive e-learning programs/courseware.
  • Excellent ability to develop and integrate module content, materials and media to meet detailed design specifications and support the overall learning goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of SCORM models, LMS/LCMS considerations and compliance.
  • Proficient with tools like Adobe Presenter; audio and video editing tools; Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator; Microsoft Word and PowerPoint; and HTML (particularly as used in the development of instructional content)
  • Experience in Web Applications using Dreamweaver is preferred.
  • Experience in the graphic design and international work is a plus
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work.
  • Superior time management and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Effective written, oral and proofreading skills
  • Agility working in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Capacity for hands-on, high energy action complemented by the ability to be a team player
  • Ability to work on multiple projects independently
  • Must be extremely detail-oriented and able to work effectively under tight deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate with other professional and writers on group projects
  • Willingness to “roll up sleeves” when necessary
  • Excellent management, administrative, and communications skills in order to function as a change agent within the organization.

Moodle Skills

  • Proficient in Moodle
  • In-depth knowledge of Moodle LMS.
  • At least 1 year experience in Moodle customization.
  • Expected to be hands on and work on complex development tasks.
  • Basic understanding of SCORM.
  • Excellent skills in developing web pages, skins, CSS etc. required for (user interfaces).
  • Must have basic experience in Moodle customization.
