Job offered: Moodle Developer roles

Location: UK based remote

The UCL Moodle team is looking to expand its Moodle development capacity further from August 2025.

We are looking for 3 developers on a full time basis with an annual salary and leave entitlement, with potential to be renewed/extended. Must be UK based. No agencies.

The roles would be particularly focused on maintenance, support and minor enhancements.

With a strong focus on contributing to the Moodle community:

  • bug fixing community plugins
  • bug fixing core Moodle
  • minor improvements of core Moodle
  • fixing Behat and PHPunit tests
  • code maintenance prior to upgrades
  • writing automated tests (adding coverage to pre-existing plugins)

Our Moodle Developers are supported and enabled by:

  • GitHub pipelines to deploy code to personal testing environments and run full test suites
  • multi-disciplinary team of Devs, Learning Technologists, Tech Leads and Ops
  • Peer Reviews with a Large Scale Moodle mindset of adopting core best practices
  • alignment to Moodle Coding Standards
  • upstream first policy
  • team of early adopters of Agile (SAFe) / DevSecOps / Cloud / AI / …
  • all of our Moodle Developers have now become core contributors
  • continuous investment in upskilling with innovation sprints and time to apply new skills
  • attend a MoodleMoot (DACH, Global, …)

We are oriented towards the Global Moodle community, part of the Moodle User Association, a financial contributor to the Quiz consortium and always on the look out for further collaboration opportunities to improve the Moodle ecosystem.

We expect these contractor positions to be fully remote.

No agencies. Permanent or fixed term positions. No contractors. UK only.
