Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and self-directed individual to help Art Center achieve ambitious goals in educational technology through effective and creative uses of our widely popular portal system.

 

This position will be responsible for managing the College’s main portal system for students, faculty, and staff.  Through the broad application of administrative and educational technology, the successful candidate will help enhance teaching and learning for faculty and students, as well as augment departmental and project-based processes, workflow, and communications online.  The candidate will employ effective uses of the portal, with special emphasis on the Learning Management System.

 

The primary responsibilities of the position consist of System Setup and User Engagement of the portal system, which integrates various underlying administrative and educational technologies, services, and applications such as the LMS, auxiliary business systems, custom web applications, and the College’s core administrative system (Ellucian/Datatel Colleague.)

 

Essential Functions:

Some duties and responsibilities may vary.  As directed, performs duties such as those outlined below:

 

  • Administer and support the College’s main portal system, inside.artcenter.edu, which serves as a centralized application of administrative and educational technology projects and initiatives.
     
  • Evaluate new components and enhancements to the portal, working closely with various departments across the campus, such as Administration, Department Chairs Office, Faculty Council, Student Government, Design Office, and A/V Media Group.  Provide leadership in the analysis of educational technology applications and instructional design methodologies, including multimedia and web-based software, working closely with classroom technical support teams.
  • Help define and cultivate a college-wide strategy for educational technology, including online initiatives.  Maintain a directed focus on enhancing the teaching and learning experience to further enrich the educational process, with strong emphasis on aligning educational technology with pedagogical goals. 

 

  • Engage various groups on campus and attend community meetings, such as new student orientation, to introduce and facilitate the use of Art Center’s technology services to the community at large.  Conduct educational technology workshops to promote the use of technology in teaching and learning, supplementing the educational process.

 

  • Help faculty adopt appropriate technologies and related skill sets to achieve their teaching goals.  Develop high quality online training materials for faculty, students, and staff to assist in the learning and use of various technology tools.  Assist faculty with course setup each term, and provide support to ensure productive use of educational technology and related tools.

 

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Educational Technology, Information Technology or equivalent
  • Thorough understanding and experience with technology in the learning space, modern web and mobile design, technical project management, policy management, and implementing best practices with portal, LMS, ERP, and auxiliary technologies.
  • Minimum 3 years experience  working with educational technology system (Higher Education industry experience preferred)
  • Experience managing LMS systems such as Moodle or Blackboard
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Outstanding project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently

Desired Skills:

  • Experience administering systems based on Unix, Windows, and Macintosh platforms
  • Classroom teaching experience in higher education
  • Familiarly with multimedia capture tools that enable online/virtual learning
