The University is comprised of three colleges: the Graduate College of Mind-Body Medicine, the GraduateCollege in Psychology and Humanistic Studies, which offers degrees in psychology, human science, and organizational systems, and LIOSGraduateCollege. The school has offered masters and doctoral programs at a distance for more than 40 years. The learning model includes a blend of distance learning through individually mentored and cohort-based formats, increasingly delivered in an online environment, and residential conferences.

Position Summary.

This position reports to the Provost & Executive Vice President and is responsible for supporting the delivery of online instruction for masters and doctoral degree students at SaybrookUniversity by:

  • working with administrative and faculty resources of each College at Saybrook to support the coordination of curricular aspects of the College's educational activities.
  • working with the administrative, technical and faculty resources of each College at Saybrook to support the diversification and modernization of Saybrook’s course delivery and pedagogy to meet the needs of graduate education.
  • working with the faculty to design and develop learning delivery approaches as well as courses that support graduate level student success and meet a variety of accreditation and regulatory needs.
  • developing and delivering appropriate training for faculty and students to facilitate a high level of performance and success in an online learning environment for graduate students.
  • managing and administering the remotely hosted online delivery platform and the relevant tools that are used to support learning delivery across the university.
  • coordinating and collaborating with the Library staff to ensure optimal design and use of systems to support graduate level information competencies.
  • collaborating with the Director of Information Technology to ensure integration of learning technologies with the other technologies in use at Saybrook.

 

Position Requirements.

  • Master’s Degree
  • Minimum 5 years prior work experience in an online academic setting
  • Experience designing for, training, and supporting faculty and students in online course delivery 
  • Degree in instructional design, information systems, or library science a plus
  • Experience as a faculty member a plus
  • Experience working in a graduate education background a plus
  • Familiarity with WASC and DOE requirements and definitions a plus
  • Possesses strong interpersonal, leadership, and motivation skills
    • Experience with Moodle 1.9 through 2.1 preferred
