Now looking for an E-Learning (Systems) Developer to develop and maintain the VLE and develop bespoke systems

We are looking for an E-Learning (Systems) Developer to maintain and develop the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) using open source software ‘Moodle’ and to extend these developments to include other bespoke integrated systems which fall under the e-learning banner. Candidates should have the right blend of technical, creative, communication and interpersonal skills to meet the challenges of this high profile support service team.

Other key responsibilities of the role include:

•Web Development – to build bespoke customisations and to research the network with other developers

•Have the key technical responsibility for the administration of Moodle at the server, making back-ups, documenting changes to the module/block set-up etc., to allow for streamlined upgrades at a later date. This may involve out of hours working

•To assist the Learning Technology Manager in shaping a strategic plan for future development

•Develop the interface between Moodle and other college systems and to coordinate work with other departments to further the goal of interoperability.

•To communicate bugs and functionality changes to the student tracking system vendor company and IT support as appropriate.

•Develop Moodle at City College to include a full range of resources including, eportfolios and eILPs (Individual Learning Plans) to support the college’s employability agenda.

•Administrate the general day-to-day running of Moodle, including creating and distributing user IDs and passwords, checking content consistency, collating statistics, creating and assigning courses and staff, providing support materials etc

•To train and support staff and students in the use of Moodle. To assist staff with the uploading of materials to Moodle and to manage these materials.
