The Sharing Cart is a pick-and-choose tool
that lets you roam courses across your entire Moodle site, select just the item you want (without user data), and place it into your own course. The Sharing Cart, once turned on, follows you as you go course to course, carrying the items you pick up along the way. It’s an easy, intuitive tool for duplicating the teaching materials and activities we use every day. You can also use it to clone an activity within the same course. Some teachers found they can use it as a mini-library of frequently used content for copying to many of their own courses.
It requires Moodle 1.9 and is now compatible with Topics, Weekly, and Project course formats. Associated media files are copied along with the activity or resource and duplicated into the course files of the new location. Links are updated to the newly duplicated media's location. The latest release, in November 2009 fixes several bugs, adds a bulk delete feature, and is only available from CVS.
See Sharing Cart documentation
in Moodle Docs for detailed installation, use, and warnings. In late spring 2009, we added a new release with add auto-login to a Moodle-for-Language Teaching repository. Eventually, this feature will allow general site-to-site sharing of content.
Latest release, November 2009, adds a bulk delete function. In case your Sharing Cart gets too full (mine did).
Be sure to file bugs directly in the CONTRIB section of the Moodle Issue tracker (not here), or email Don directly (hinkel at sgu.ac. jp) as this forum gives no notifications--we only check here once every 2-3 months.
