My local installation of Moodle 2.0 refuses to start.
Locally I use MAMP downloaded from http://download.moodle.org/download.php/macosx/Moodle4Mac-Intel-20A.dmg
It worked for some time... then, from one CVS update on, it refused to work any more.
So I trashed the config.php and I installed m20 again. At the and of the installation I see the same front page I had in:
http://localhost:8888/moodle20/index.php but if I log in I get a blank page.
On the same computer, with the same MAMP, http://localhost:8888/moodle19/index.php works correctly.
Where am I wrong?
TIA
Can you track down the log files for php and see if anything is written there just after you get the blank page.
Thanks Howard
but no log found in php log files and in all other MAC OS X logs!!!
I try to delete the database.

I try to delete the database.
I made two shocking test.
1. I renamed the db
::the installation doesn't rebuild the db
2. I wrote the name of a not existing moodledatafolder
::software doesn't rise an exception
What is happening?

I am quite sure it was a parse error somewhere.
I had this problem since a couple of weeks.
I made a CVS update on last Sunday evening and the problem was present.
Yesterday evening (Wednesday) I made a new update and magically all worked fine again!!!!
Thanks Howard, for your support.

I am sorry to rise up again this problem but... after a couple of days with moodle 2.0 working I have never seen it working again on my local installation.
I restarted from scratch even installing MAMP 1.7.1 (with php 5.2.5)... I removed the config.php too but without success. By removing the config.php the user is driven in the first steps of the installation. When config.php is copied in the right position... the only output is a blank page.

Solution found. A just installed MAMP has memory limit = 8Mb. Nothing is simpler.
