The problem we've faced is somehow related with images in Moodle quiz questions.

The images we've put to multiple-choice questions in quizes are sometimes shown and sometimes they are not.

Several teachers while editing their multiple-choice questions were putting images either directly in the text editor, either in the "image to display" section.

But probably that is not the case, because unshown images were reported in both situations.

The strange thing is - if to log on as a teacher, or administrator, you can see image in question preview, but if you log on as a student the image is not shown on the same question.

So we can't find any dependency or the reason for that.

Any suggestions?

For images to be displayed to students in quiz questions, these images must be in the files folder of the course where the quiz resides, i.e. the course in which the students are enrolled.

Do any of the questions of your problematic quizzes belong to categories which have the "published" status? If so, those questions can be used in quizzes in courses other than those where they were created, but the images will not be displayed (unless the students viewing the quiz are enrolled in the original course too).

Example

  • Course A: teacher: Smith; student: John
  • Course B: teacher: Smith; students: John and Fatima

In Course A, teacher Smith creates a series of questions, in category CatA, including some images from the course files in course A.

In Course B, also taught by teacher Smith, Smith uses those questions from CatA to make a quiz. Smith can see the images, because he is enroled in both courses A and B.

In Course A, student John takes the quiz and can see the images.

In Course B, student Mary who is also enrolled in Course B, can see the images.

In Course B, student Fatima, who is only enrolled in Course B, can do the quiz but cannot see the images.
