Cannot upload image to 'picture of' in 'edit profile'

I would like to upload an image to my profile on this site but it won't allow me to. I've tested the issue on Mac/PC/Firefox/IE/Safari and no joy on any of them. Is it a security setting?

In my profile a don´t receive any message error. The picture simple do not appear.

I change the location of the file an click save changes. But... nothing...

this seems to be a problem here in moodle.org

I tested it too and editing profile does not change uploaded image as it should change even after refreshing browser but only HERE. My own moodle 1.8 (upgraded yesterday) does not have this problem.

I also am beginning to think this is a problem in moodle.org - unless I am dumber than I thought. I've tried uploading a picture to my profile using safari, IE, firefox browsers and different formats of pictures (jpg and png). Made sure the size is okay, but still nothing. It does not generate an error. The picture name seems to update but the image does not.

Other people must be experiencing this too?

It is really not a big deal, for me at least. Just thought I would note that I had also observed this. Didn't see the tracker - thanks for posting that.

I, too, have this problem.. I can't upload an image to my 'Moodle profile'. I wonder if it is a problem on Moodle's Moodle site. I don't have 'my own moodle' running on a server.

I am facing problem in uploading the user picture while editing the profile. I have moodle installation on both windows as well as linux fc-6.

on windows picture upload is working fine but on linux i am hanged with it.

I have checked php-gd also it is already enabled I can check it from server --> php-info.

If any body could help me in this.

In my 1.8.2+ (July, 22ht) installation running on strato virtual server under openSuse10.1, PHP5 and mySQL 5 it's quite the same as all other mentioned before:

- Moodle says GD 2x is installed
- http Slasharguments tested in both ways -> no success
- different pictures in different formats tested -> no success
- debugging says:
Rule: 1.1.1 - All IMG elements are required to contain either the alt or the longdesc attribute.
  • Failure - IMG Element at Line: 82, Column: 31
  • Failure - IMG Element at Line: 86, Column: 49

Me too. Almost the same, except that I am running 1.8.3 (on Ubuntu 7.10 and a recent version of LAMP) Checked the standard stuff: the permissions of /var/moodledata Tried slasharguments both ways. No other problems uploading. Do not have anywhere near 32000 directories in the users directory. GD version 2.0 or greater. A user cannot change their picture in the profile except if they delete the old image and then upload a new image and then either wait a random time or keep trying, at some point in the future it changes.

For Moodle 1.8.2, please make sure the user folder and subfolders (/moodledata/users/) have write permission for the web server built-in user account.

After I changed that, profile pictures can be uploaded.

i' musing moodle 2.0.I was unable to upload picture neither to admin nor student.there is no function in profile to upload you picture.any idea?

Hi..I am using moodle 1.9 . I can upload bulk user profile images but there is no any option in profile to upload user own picture. Suggest me any idea...??

Might try this ...

In 1.9, check System Admin -> Security -> Site Policies setting for Disable User Profile Images.  Note that the $CFG -> variable 'disableuserimages' could be put into the config.php file.

In 2.2.1, same location ... same variable.

I already did it. Don't know what else to do.

I read many sites and didn't find an answer.

Yesterday I installed GD, enabled and disabled the slasharguments option  and restarted the server and nothing...

Do you have another clue? Can somebody help me?

This thread is kinda old, but appears the problem pops up from time to time (am guessing).  Others mentioned their server info.  How about yours?  Server operating system, PHP version, standalone or remotely hosted (shared or dedicated)?  Moodle version ... might want to be specific with build date.

Hi everybody.

I'm contacting you all one more time to ask for help. Last week I opened a thread about the problem on my Moodle that doesn't show the option to define/send an image for the profile. I tryied many changes on the dedicated system, but without success and many server restarts:

1 - Enabled/disabled the addslashes option;

2 - Enabled/disabled the "disable profile picture" in the setting and in the config file (config.php);

3 - Installed the GD extension (http://moodle.iffpb.edu.br/phpinfo.php);

4 - Gave the right permissions to the directories /moodledata

Moodle version is the last stable (2.2.1 - Build: 20120109), PHP 5.3.6.

If somedody could help me, please reply this message! I don't know more who to ask. Help!

Administration > Server > System Paths > "GD 2.x is installed"
