I think I've got everything figured out and the Contact Form block (aka Ask a Question) looks to be working for 1.7 - I would appreciate any comments or suggestions (or help where my code needs improvement!)
A couple of items I'm still working on/trying to figure out:
Subject prefix in courses shows up as [] and does not include the course shortname.
Some of the error messages are hardcoded and need to be converted to strings.

I get an error "No teachers exist for this course" when I place this block on the front page of my site. The site is v 1.7. Any ideas why this error keeps popping up despite the fact that I assigned a role to this block?
Front page works a little differently in 1.7 than it does for 1.6 or 1.8 - make sure you have someone assigned as an site administrator - I believe that's how I was doing it back then.
