Edit area becoming unresponsive (Moodle 2.3 moodle.org)

When I start writing a new post, whether as a new discussion or as a reply in a running discussion, my key strokes start appearing in the edit area, as they should. But after a couple of seconds the screen sort of refreshes itself and the edit area lose focus, i.e. the key strokes simply vanish. This happens every time.

Initially I thought it is the time this new DnD widget (that with the bouncing arrow) takes to load, and once loaded, it refreshes the screen and steals focus. Apparently that is not the case: http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=204763#p907406. Therefore I am shifting to the 'Forum module' forum.

More details on my setup:

- Server moodle.org (Moodle 2.3).

- Client
* Browser: Iceweasel 11 (Firefox 11, standard i386 Debian package)
In my profile 'When editing text' set to 'Use standard web forms'.

* OS: CrunchBang Linux 10 "Stattler" (Debian "Squeeze" streamlined with OpenBox), i386

* Hardware: Lenovo X201, Inter Core i5, 4 GB RAM (very responsive)

* Internet: Mobile Internet in a remote area, slow.

Has anybody noticed this? Any idea of the cause or how to dig into it?

Yes - I complained about it as well. It's really annoying.

Worse - I find that sometimes clicking the submit button is ignored too. My suspicion is that it's the shear weight of javascript content that's on the page with drag-and-drop uploads.

My gut feeling was right. This blob of a widget not only takes space, it is also heavy. Kind of a growth knocking your senses at every move.
