Quiz development projects with funding

The following new features for the quiz module are needed by the Serving Mathematics project. The Serving Mathematics project is a JISC-funded project to develop mathematics assessment tools for higher education in England. However these features are not specific to Mathematics (or England for that matter) so they should become part of the standard Moodle quiz module.

We have money to fund the development of the following features. Any volunteers are encouraged to contact Gustav. However all development work has to be completed before the end of March!

The features below are in no particular order. Some tasks are larger than others, ome are more important than others. The links point to a page in the Moodle developer wiki which contains more details. These pages will get updated as more details are worked out. All discussions of the features should take place in threads on this forum rather than in the Wiki because unlike the forum the wiki is not very good at alerting others when you make changes (people can't subscribe to the wiki pages).

  • Manual grade override: Teachers should be able to override the automatically calculated grades and should be able to make comments.
  • Off-line questions: The answers to these are handed in off-line in the conventional way (e.g., on paper) and teachers enter marks on Moodle.
  • Batch printing of quiz sheets: We want to be able to hand out question sheets to students so they can start working on the questions before going to the computer.
  • Teacher preview: Teachers should have preview buttons for previewing a quiz.

In Progress:

The following development projects have developers working on them at the moment.

  • Editing questions: This is about editing questions after students have already attempted them. There needs to be a mechanism to keep the old versions of the question around for auditing purposes.
