2 Questions for 2.0 & 1.9

Q1. I  downloaded package installation file for Windows MoodleWindowsInstaller-latest-20, which includes PHP, MySQL, Apache, etc. Works great on my PC. However it mentioned in the Windows installation section that Package installation is only suitable for upto 30 users? is this relevant for the package I downloaded? does that mean I souldnt use this installation on school LAN server?

Q2. What about hosting companies, who offers Moodle installation in one click, does it mean this installation is not suitable for large number of users, 4000 and so?

Hello Jack,

If I remember correctly, the windows installer is only suitable for a 'development/test site and is not recommended for production site, the reason being that the security settings of your server (apache) is very 'relaxed'

Hope this helped.

You might also want to read the following link about the downside of using the installer packages which are not recommended for production sites.

I didn't catch what version of windows you're running but the 30-user part usually is a restriction on non-server versions of windows.  There aren't enough allowed connections in non-server versions to handle the kind of traffic you might be expecting.   Hope this helps.
