I have scheduled course backups in my site, whreas when i view the logs from reports

it says

this is the last updated log presently there is no backup happening i think.


but if backedup manually everything is fine.

and i forgot to say this is a fresh installation of moodle v 1.9.04 if am right.

Found the problem ,


writing here for people who face the same symptoms

1st thing i checked was the crontab, in my case it wasnt running properly for some reason so corrected it and

2ndly increase the max_execution_time in php.ini to 120 seconds (default is 30 secs)

as the name indicates this is a setting in php.ini to execute a script , as back up may take long time if data is huge increase it.

Besides the previous checks, Please ensure that no external zip,unzip applications are forced to work with the moodle installation , in case if it is ensure that they are working fine.

You can check it by going to Site Administration -> Server -> System path , Whereas check for a tick mark besides the text box for Path to zip and Path to unzip (Before the Text Default : Empty )

If theres a cross mark instead of a tick mark then you can find that the external zip and unzip application that you used is not working with you application good.

If you are on linux (I use debian) do a apt-get install zip and apt-get install unzip to install them if its not there previously.
